Chicago-based band, Wooden Rings, teams up with 3Arts Foundation to release their first full-length vinyl record, Heliocentric, on February 29th, 2020 at Elastic Arts.

About the Band Wooden Rings is a singer-songwriter project created by Ramah Jihan Malebranche, a Haitian immigrant to Chicago who crafts lush, original blends of folk and rock with a magazine of broken-hearted love songs that sound like they were written just for you.

“The eerie, methodical construction of Wooden Rings’ music sounds characteristically Chicago. This lush, multilayered brand of chamber pop might not be the most popular sound in town, but its roots can be found in acts who’ve grabbed national and international acclaim…the vision is precise and haunting in its beauty and strength.” – Chicago Tribune

Heliocentric, Wooden Rings’ first full-length vinyl release, is a collection of songs that explores the complications seasonal depression brings to the interpersonal life of a Caribbean immigrant to the Midwest. Soaked in trombone and oboe the guitar work is supported by keys, fretless bass, and angelic vocal harmony. The recorded was recorded mostly by James Auwarter, a Grammy Award winner and founder of Coda Room Audio, Chicago/London. Other notable engineers include Bryon Harden of I See Music, Yuri Yuri Lysoivanov at Flashpoint Academy, and Mark Yoshizumi at the IV LAbs (RIP). Along with many other talented contributors, the core of Wooden Rings now consists of Ramah Malebranche (guitar & vocals), Alex Brescanu (bass), Nathan Staley (drums), and Liz Arakaki (vocals & keyboards).
