Lightbox Session Video

Thanks to the great taste and work by Matt Livensparger and Lightbox Session founder, Erick Memmesheimer, we have a new Lightbox Sessions video with a few songs and a meandering interview. We were so excited to be a part of such a great collection of artists, interviewed and tape in a raw, honest, and intimate light.

Pick a Color T- Shirts

Wooden Rings will be selling beautifully screen printed T-shirts at the CD release show on Saturday night at Schubas Tavern. Not only will you be able to pick up an album score, download cards poorman’s-score, and buttons bonus, now you can swipe a comfy T too double bonus. Cheers: To everyone that has gone out of their way and taken a moment to listen to our music and to our troubles, who helped when times were hard, and who share our work and stories with others, tonight we toast to you. Community Arts Assistance Program Grant

Wooden Rings has been honored with the coveted Community Arts Assistance Program (CAAP) grant, offered through a collaboration between The City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture. This is a reimbursement grant that will help us cover some costs with recording and mastering our album, Wooden Rings, as well as a project of charcoal rubbings that will accompany our live performances. We are very humbled and would like to thank our friends and family members, the fine folks at Chicago Artist Resource (CAR), and of course, our beloved City of Chicago.

Wooden Rings/ Self-Titled/ Album coming in April

Some thangs to share: 1/ The first album by Wooden Rings is currently in replication!!!! Perhaps and album release party is in order? 2/ We have 2 shows this week. Thursday at Comfort Station in Logan Square, and Friday at ACE bar on Fullerton near Western. 3/ And lastly, jump on the mailing list soon because once the album comes, there is going to be a track that wasn’t released on the album, that will go out to those folks!

Line up Change

We are officially switching up cello players from good old Ira Oaks, a fine musician and friend who really helped get the ensemble version of Wooden Rings off the ground, to the virtuous Portland(er), Marrissa Deitz. We are very excited to hear how the change will affect our sound and will be diligently practicing and working towards a recording for all to enjoy. We have enough saved up for a recording, so we are going to be performing toward the goal of mixing and mastering. Also, we are working with photographer and graphic artist, Ben Rodig, on our album art and band portraits. That’s all for now, RJ of WR
